Web Design Process: From Comps to Conversion
Here’s how we operate:
First, we create a web design comp.
A design comp is an image showing what a website will look like when it’s finished. To come up with a new custom design, we listen to your input, mixing it with our design expertise and usability strategies. We’ll give you a few different design ideas to choose from. After we narrow it down to best in show, we’re off to the races.
(What’s a design comp? It’s like an architect’s sketch… it’s not a building yet; it’s just what the building will look like. A web design comp isn’t a website yet. It needs to go through a conversion process.)
And here’s our web design conversion process:
- After we decide on a comp, we’ll stay in touch. We plan to show you frequent updates as we work.
- We’ll try to schedule a live changes session… During this session, you and your ENGINE designer will have a kind of web-design brainstorm.
- We will then code a website based on your design comp. We’ll lay it out, mark it up, turn it into a content management system theme, get it up to web standards, and put it online.
(Note: If you’ve had another designer make a comp, we can take over and finish the process, to make sure it’s coded up to standards.)
