Horizon Realty CEO Jeffrey Michael: Looking to expand into Atlanta?

Because we do offer social media training.

After news broke that some outfit called Horizon Realty (I’d link to their website, but they literally have like double figures worth of websites) rallied ‘round a family over a Twitter message, legions of Twitterers put their sandwiches down to storm the barricades.

Horizon Realty became a Trending Topic within minutes. Do the math… the person who posted the message that started this all only had 20 followers. That means at most 15 are actual humans, the rest being spamborgs. Maybe half were online and saw her message. We’ll call it 8. Horizon called this shot over 8 people.

As of the time of this post, that many people per minute are teeing off on Horizon. (We’ll admit; we were not above joining in.) Is the entire internet 4chan now? Geez.

Horizon Realty has a mess on their hands. And not just the moldy kind.

How to fix it? Because Horizon can still survive this whole thing. Besides the obvious things like publicly apologizing to the woman, giving her several months free, setting up an official Twitter profile to put a human face on the mistake, issuing company lawyers a harsh stand-down, etc?

Besides all that, we’d recommend Moldex.

UPDATE 11:28, 7/28: Horizon gives their side of the story. Good enough to stop the bleeding, but breezes past what sparked the whole flare-up: the “sue first, ask questions later” line. Oh well.
